On June 2, 2026, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau reported that it was working with Bilt to address consumer issues arising from its transition to a new bank partner. The CFPB said Bilt offered to reimburse affected customers for transition-related overdraft, late and insufficient-funds fees.
In a later update, the CFPB said that by September 10, Bilt had reimbursed more than 2,000 eligible consumers a total of $264,792.71. The agency said it considered the matter closed on September 21 after Bilt cooperated voluntarily.
If a change in a financial service leads to an unexpected fee, review your statements and contact the provider promptly. Keep records of the charge, your communications and any reimbursement.
