FTC Sends Refunds to Cleo Cash Advance Customers

Published October 8, 2026 · October 27, 2026 last updated

On October 8, 2026, the Federal Trade Commission announced that it is sending more than $15.8 million to eligible Cleo AI customers. PayPal payments are scheduled to begin October 27.

The payments follow an FTC case alleging that Cleo advertised cash advances larger and faster than most customers received, charged additional fees for expedited advances, and made subscriptions difficult to cancel. Cleo agreed to a settlement in 2025.

The FTC expects to send payments to approximately 2.1 million customers who paid for eligible instant advances. Eligible consumers were to receive an email by October 26. The FTC says recipients should redeem their PayPal payment within 30 days.

If you used Cleo, check the FTC’s official refund page for details. Never pay a fee to receive a refund.
